Our instructors come to your home or office in
Calgary,
Alberta. Even if you're outside Calgary, we can arrange for computer
courses or seminars wherever, whenever (travel time and expenses
extra). And we offer special discounts for seniors and non-profit
groups/registered charities.
You can have one-on-one or group training,
customized to
your goals and learning style. You can choose informal "Q
&
A" sessions where you can ask anything you need to know, or you can
take a structured course that includes a free workbook. At the end of
the structured courses, the workbook is yours to keep as a reference
tool, and you'll get a certificate to show your proficiency.
Once you've decided what type of training you
want, just
give us a call. We'll arrange a time and place that works for you. It's
as easy as that. (We can usually fit you in within a week to 10 days).
We teach you on your own computer, so there are never any
surprises when you try things on your own after your training.
We work with all skill levels, from absolute
beginners
to power users. Our instructors excel at breaking down tasks into
simple, step-by-step processes to make your learning easy!
Keep in mind that if you want to learn a software
program, you need to have a computer with the software loaded. If you
want to learn the software but don't have the program or don't have a
computer on site, let us know when you register, and we'll bring out a
computer with the software on it for you to use just during class time
(there may be rental charges for groups).

arrange
for laptop rentals to accommodate your group.

|
| Are there limits on
the size of groups? |
|
|
We consider a group size of 5 - 6 people to be the
best
for our hands-on group training. We consider a group of 10 to be the
maximum size in which people can get individual attention. If you're
not doing hands-on training, for example, in a seminar, then larger
groups are fine.
|
| What are my
payment options? |
|
|
You can pay for sessions by cash, cheque, or money
order. If you prefer to use a credit card, you can pay online using
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. You can also pay
online using PayPal.
|
| How much does the
training cost? |
|
|
For one-on-one sessions, training is billed by the
hour.
Most people only need an hour or two to learn the skills they need. For
group sessions, training is billed by the hour, plus a per-person
charge. Most of our certificate courses take 3 - 5 hours to complete.

|
| What if I book
an appointment, but it's not long enough? |
|
|
All the topics are strictly "learn at your own
pace".
The instructor will take as much time as you need to understand the
material.
The estimated times are just guidelines, so if you
need
extra time to get through the material, we can book another appointment
for you. Sometimes we may even be able to extend the length of your
session on that day, if your instructor has time free after your
session.
|
| What if I book an
appointment that's longer than I need? |
|
|
Except for the minimums noted above, you only pay
for
the time you use. If you finish in less time than you've booked, feel
free to ask the instructor about any other topics that interest you.
If you have no other questions, we'll issue you a credit for
the
remaining time (rounded to the nearest 15-minute increment), so you can
use it the next time you book.
|
| What if I'm not
happy with the course material or the instructor? |
|
|
Please tell us if there's something you'd like
changed. We appreciate the feedback and are always striving to improve.
If you feel that the material was not presented
adequately or understandably, we will send an instructor to answer your
additional questions about the material free of charge. If you're still
not satisfied, we'll refund 100% of your money.

| What can beginners
expect? |
|
|
If you or someone you know is a brand-new computer
user,
we can help you learn the basics in relaxed, no-pressure, private
sessions. If you've never used a computer before, we suggest several
1-hour sessions, spaced apart by several days or even weeks.
In the first one-hour session, you'll learn the
very
basics: how to turn on and safely turn off your computer, how to move
the mouse most easily and effectively, how to use correct posture to
avoid pain and fatigue, what you're seeing on the screen, and how to
play a basic game like Solitaire.
After the first session, you should allow yourself
a
week or so (or longer, if you want) to practice with the mouse and to
feel comfortable with turning the computer on and off. Then, when
you're ready for the next session, we'll teach you some more skills.
Here are some of the things you can do with your computer:
- Send and receive email
- Send and receive photos
- Use the Internet to find information online
- Use your computer to write that book you've
always meant to start
- And much more!
It's up to you - learn as much or as little as you
want. And you're always in control of
the pace of the lessons.

|
| What if I'm outside of Calgary,
Alberta? |
Back
to question list |
If you're
not in the Calgary area, or if you need to train team members
who are in various locations, you can choose a live online session
instead. Online sessions are exactly the same as in-person
sessions,
with a live instructor who will lead the class and answer all your
questions during the session. All you need is an
internet and phone
connection.

|
| Are the online sessions "canned"? |
Back
to question list |
No, all our
online sessions are
led in real time by a live instructor. You'll need an
internet
connection so that you can follow along with the course material on
your screen, and you'll use your telephone connection to listen to the
instructor and ask questions.
You can control the content of the online sessions the same as if you
were in the same room with the instructor. You can ask
him/her to
speed up or slow down, concentrate on certain topics or skip over
others, and stop the instructor to ask questions whenever you want.
If you're having trouble with a concept, you can even show
your
screen to your instructor, so that he/she can see where you need help.
The only difference between an online session and an in-person session
is that the instructor isn't in the same room with you.
