This fabulous Atlas Moth uses protective colouring to keep from being eaten by birds. Usually when we think of protective colour, we think camouflage, but this guy uses a different strategy. He pretends to be a snake instead - take a look at each of his wingtips!And no, I didn't get to go on an exotic trip to see him - I found him at the Butterfly Gardens in Victoria.
