April 2008

Greetings...

It's been another exciting month here at Bright Ideas!  This month we received our certification from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (see the News section for more information).

Also, we're happy to announce the winners of the draws for the Tech Question and Restaurant contests.  Thank you to all who participated!

And best of all, spring is really here - does it get any better?

Tech Tip: Talking to All Your Gadgets

Now that many of us are trying to synchronize Palm and Blackberry devices and other smartphones, the question arises:  What software should I use?

Many of the devices come with their own software system, and also link to Microsoft Outlook®, Act®, or other programs.

If you're just getting started and you don't already use a program for your email and contacts, Microsoft Outlook® (part of Microsoft Office®) is the safest choice.  Don't confuse Outlook® with Outlook Express®, Windows Mail®, or Windows Contacts® - they look similar, but they don't do the same things.

Since Outlook® has been around for so long, almost all handheld devices will link easily to it.

Ask a question and win! Do you have tech questions? Each time you send in a question, you name will be entered in the next draw to win cool toys!

Bright Ideas Certified by Human Resources Canada

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Canada has approved our certification as a qualified educational institution!

What that really means is that you can now claim our courses and materials as tuition, education and textbook tax credits on your personal income tax.  This is in effect retroactively to January 1, 2008.

If you need an official receipt for a course you took from us this year, please contact us.

Congratulations, Draw Winners!

Thank you to everyone who contributed tech questions and restaurant recommendations in the past 6 months!  The winner for tech questions is Karen Rodrigue of Timeframes Custom Picture Framing, and for restaurant recommendations, Catherine Saykaly-Stevens from WSI Internet Consulting.  Each winner receives a 1 GB USB flash drive.  We appreciate your emails - keep 'em coming!
