Copy Formulas and Formatting in Excel

You can easily propagate a formula from one cell to several other cells using Excel's fill handle.

When you click on a cell, you'll notice that its border is darkened, with a small black square in the lower right corner:

(In earlier versions of Excel, you may need to hover your mouse over the lower right corner to make the black square appear.)

First, manually create the formula in the first column and format it as you choose (bolded, for example).  Once that formula is complete and correct, click on its cell so that the dark outline appears.

Click on the small black box, and drag it so that the rectangle extends across all the cells where you want formulas.  When you release the mouse button, the formula will be duplicated in each cell you dragged over, with the cell references automatically updated to suit each column.
