Bright Ideas: Computer Training Session Types

Are you learning for personal interest, or do you need evidence of your skills? Or both? You can choose the type of computer training session that suits your needs.

All session types are available for one-on-one training or groups, either with an instructor in person at your location, or Live Online.

Structured Certificate Courses Q&A Sessions Project KickStarts

Structured Certificate Computer Training Courses

Structured Certificate Courses

If you're upgrading your skills for the job market, or if you want evidence of your accomplishments, you'll want one of our structured courses. These courses generally take around 3 - 4 hours per skill level (for example, Introduction and Intermediate MS Word® are considered two skill levels).

Structured courses include a custom-written workbook that contains information, tips and shortcuts, and step-by-step instructions, as well as skill-building exercises.

When you complete the workbook under the supervision of your instructor, you'll receive a certificate to show that you have successfully completed the course. After the course, you can use your workbook as a quick reference tool, to brush up your skills and keep you on track.

“My instructor was very patient, and he created a good rapport with me.  He was well organized, and able to “wing it” when I wanted to learn things outside what we’d scheduled.

I felt very relaxed and comfortable in the session.  I liked the hands-on experience, and learned a lot more about (the topic) than sitting in a class.  I liked the ability to learn what was needed, not necessarily what was on the curriculum.”

Roger S., Upland Developments

Q&A Computer Training Sessions

Informal "Q&A" Computer Training Sessions

If you are used to using your software already, but you'd like to learn the tips and tricks to make your work easier, or if you just have a few nagging "How-to" questions in a number of areas, a Q&A session could be just what you need.

If you want to ask a variety of questions and get quick answers, then Q&A sessions are for you. Your instructor will come prepared to answer your questions on one or a variety of topics. You can usually get all the information you need in only a session or two.

Note:  Q&A sessions are best for people who are already quite familiar with their software.  If "you don't know what you don't know", then you may want to consider a structured session instead.

My session was a perfect experience – I can’t think of a way to improve it.  I had a bad experience with a “techie” guy before – he went too fast and used technical terms I didn’t understand.

My instructor explained everything in plain English and made it really easy to understand.  He went at my pace and made sure I understood everything as we went along.

I’m so glad I found you guys!

Bright Ideas - Kick-Start your project

Project Kick-Start Sessions

If you've got a special project on the go and you're pressed for time, wouldn't it be nice to have a knowledgeable person sitting beside you while you work, showing you the quickest, easiest way to get things done?

In a Project Kick-Start session, you'll actually learn skills and gain productivity while you do your daily work.  When you book a Project Kick-Start session, tell us which program you're working in, and what you need to get done.

Your instructor will arrive ready to get you up and running on your project, saving you time, money, and frustration.  You win all around!

“I liked the hands-on approach and that the course material was directed by me and specifically addressed the issues I was concerned with.”

John M.

Live Online Computer Training Sessions

"Live Online" Learning Sessions

You can still get a personalized learning experience, even if you're not in the same room with the instructor.

You can schedule a "Live Online" session just like a regular in-person session.   Each participant needs a high-speed internet connection and a computer audio headset (for VoIP) or a telephone.  At the time you choose, all the participants connect, to "attend" a session with their instructor.

You can follow along with the course material on your screen, and you'll use your audio or telephone connection to listen to the instructor and ask questions.

You'll get exactly the same personalized experience as if you were sitting in the same room:  you can stop the instructor to ask questions, ask him/her to slow down or speed up, show him/her what you're working on, and control your entire learning experience - all without leaving your own desk... wherever it might be!
You can set up "Live Online" sessions for individuals or groups, in Q & A, Structured or Project KickStart formats.

These are not "canned" sessions - you're connected with a real, live instructor, just as if you were attending an in-person course.

“I'm … really appreciating learning this way where something real happens and I can contact you with a question…  Thanks for another brilliant year of doing business together…  It simply could not have been done without your insightful and patient support.”
